SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES
 

Desjardins Foundation Scholarships Application period: March 1st to March 31st each year.

The Desjardins Foundation is a charitable organization run by Desjardins Group. For the past 50 years, the Foundation has been awarding scholarships to encourage young people to pursue post-secondary education by helping them stay in school and get involved in their communities.

 

Desjardins offers a wide variety of scholarship programs. 2024 Eligibility for Desjardins Foundation scholarships are:

· Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status. Have primary residence in Canada

· Be a member of a Desjardins caisse in Quebec or of the Desjardins Ontario Credit Union at the time you apply and at the time you receive your scholarship

· Be enrolled in a part-time or full-time vocational school, college/CEGEP or university (undergrad, master's or doctoral) program at a recognized educational institution for the fall 2024 semester (under certain conditions)

Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship Program 2024: Application Deadline March 15

The scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students in Canada who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria includes a commitment to pursue and complete a university degree and Canadian citizenship. There are two levels of award - only one application is needed to be considered for both scholarships. The National Entrepreneurial Scholarship will be awarded to 10 students in the amount of $10,000. An additional 160 students will be awarded in the amount of $5000 for the Canadian Scholarship.

The Horatio Alger Association also offers vocational and technical scholarships for individuals who have completed high school. The call for applications runs from March 15 until June 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM EST.  25 scholarships worth $3,000 will be awarded thanks to the generosity of the Members of the Horatio Alger Association of Canada.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Horatio Alger Vocational and Technical Education Scholarship Program, an applicant must:

Have completed high school (or earned high school equivalency credential) by July 1
Applying or enrolled for Fall 2024 in a vocational or technical certificate program at a government or not-for-profit institution with direct pathways to employment
Demonstrated critical financial need ($65,000 or less annual net income per family is required)
Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
Be under the age of 35
Be a Canadian citizen

Monsanto Scholarship - Application Period: May

The Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is available to Canadian high school students who are enrolled in their final year of high school as of May 29, of the current year and eligible to graduate from high school in the current year. Those eligible for a scholarship must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture, food science or culinary program.

 

Successful applicants will each be awarded a scholarship valued at $1,500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community. Selection will be made by an independent panel.

Peer-Tutoring Program
 
The peer-tutoring program is accepting requests for tutors. Please fill out the below form. A reply to your request will be given within 2-5 business days.

GENERAL TERMS OF THE PROGRAM

The following at the general terms of the program:

            1. Parental consent is an absolute requirement.

            2. Peer tutoring at school is held after school and during weekends exclusively online.
                It is at the discretion of the tutor and tutee to schedule the appointments.

             3. The tutee is responsible for a 15$/hr fee for the tutor each session.
                           a. Payment is due after each session.

            4. The tutee must give 24-hour notice to the tutor in the event of canceling a session.

            5. The tutee will be required to pay a 10$ fee if he/she fails to notify the tutor in advance.

            6. After two consecutive cancellations, tutoring arrangements must be confirmed by the Guidance Department.
