The implementation of the new Quebec Education Program has now reached the Secondary IV level (now called Cycle II, Year 2).
At Centennial we offer all three options in Mathematics in order to meet the needs of our students:
CST Cultural, Social & Technical Mathematics
TS Technical & Scientific Mathematics
S Scientific Mathematics
The difference in the programs from previous years is not only in content, but also in evaluation. Students are now evaluated on the basis of competencies, on a scale from 1 to 5+.
The Mathematics Department offers students various enrichment activities to our students. Included, is the opportunity to write five mathematics contests throughout the year. These contests are sponsored by the University of Waterloo.
Students or parents interested in seeing past contests can google cemc. The first contest of the year is the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge which is written on November 19th.
In the past, Centennial students have excelled in these contests and have been invited to Waterloo for special training.
